The cost of an office move is rarely the removal firm. It is the hours your team cannot work. So the planning question is not how fast the van goes, it is which parts of the business have to keep running and when they can afford to stop.
Most of the office moves we do happen in the evening or over a weekend, so staff leave one office on Friday and arrive at the new one on Monday. Larger moves are often staged department by department, so part of the business is always live.
Tell us early about anything with a lead time of its own: server downtime, network provisioning at the new site, lift bookings, loading bay slots, or building management notice periods. Those are usually what dictates the date, not us.
Planning that saves you money
Label by destination, not by origin. A crate marked "Finance, desk 12, second floor" gets put where it belongs. A crate marked "from reception" gets put down somewhere and moved again.
Decide what is not going before moving day. Offices accumulate furniture nobody has used in years, and paying to transport it is the most avoidable cost in the whole job.
Get a floor plan of the new site marked up with where desks and cabinets go. It turns unloading from a series of questions into a sequence, and it is the single biggest time-saver on the day.

How the price is worked out
Commercial moves are quoted as a fixed price after a site visit, at both the old and new addresses. Offices vary too much for an hourly rate to be fair to either side.
What drives the figure: the volume of furniture and equipment, how many floors are involved and whether there is a goods lift, access and loading restrictions at each site, and whether the work runs out of hours.
Quotes for business customers can be shown with and without VAT. If you move regularly, or you are opening additional sites, it is worth asking about an account rather than quoting each job separately.
