When a man and van is the right choice
A man and van suits anything that fits in two or three van loads: a flat move, a single room, a part load, a few pieces of furniture, or a pile of boxes going into storage. It is charged by the hour, so you only pay for the time the job actually takes.
Above that size, a full house removal is usually the better deal. An hourly job that runs long has no ceiling, whereas a surveyed removal is a fixed price. If you are not sure which side of the line you are on, describe what you have and we will tell you honestly.
One person or two?
Book two people for anything involving furniture, stairs, or a deadline. The hourly rate is higher but the job finishes considerably faster, and it usually works out cheaper overall as well as safer.
One person is fine for boxes, light items and ground-floor access where you can help carry. Be honest with yourself about that last part. A sofa down two flights is not a one-person job, and pretending otherwise costs more in the end.

How the price is worked out
Man and van is charged by the hour, with the rate depending on whether you book one person or two. There is a minimum number of hours, so a very short job still costs that minimum.
Ask and we will give you the rate along with a realistic estimate of how long your job should take. We would rather tell you it is a three-hour job up front than surprise you at the end.
What adds time: stairs without a lift, parking far from the door, packing that is not finished when we arrive, and furniture that needs dismantling. What saves time: everything boxed and by the door before we get there.
