Two people, or it is not a furniture delivery
One person and a three-seater sofa is how door frames get damaged and backs get hurt. Where an item needs two people to carry it safely, two people come — that is the single thing most cheap furniture deliveries leave out, and it is the reason they go wrong.
Everything travels blanket-wrapped and strapped, not stacked loose against whatever else is in the van. There is nothing else in the van, so nothing else can shift into it.
Flat-pack that has to come apart to get out of a room can be dismantled and rebuilt at the other end. Tell us in advance so the right tools are on board.
Marketplace buys, auctions and shop collections
A large part of this work is collecting something you have bought from a private seller, a marketplace listing or an auction house, and getting it home in one piece.
Two things decide whether that goes smoothly, and both are worth checking before you book. First, measure the doorway rather than the furniture — a sofa that fits the room may not fit the turn at the top of the stairs. Second, confirm when the seller or saleroom will actually be there, because a wasted trip is the most expensive thing that can happen on a job like this.
Give us the item dimensions, both addresses and any access detail you know, and we will tell you what size van it needs and whether it is a two-person job.

How the price is worked out
Four things: the distance, the size of van the item needs, whether it is a one- or two-person job, and the access at both ends. Stairs, no lift, or a long carry from where the van can legally stop all add time, and time is what you are paying for.

Common questions
Will you carry it upstairs?
Yes. Tell us how many flights and whether there is a lift when you book, because it changes how long the job takes and occasionally which van we send.
Can you collect from a shop, a warehouse or an auction house?
Yes, and it is routine. Give us the collection reference or order number and the hours they release goods, and we will work to them.
What if it will not fit through the door?
Tell us the doorway and staircase measurements before the day and we will usually spot the problem in advance. Where something genuinely will not go, dismantling is often the answer, which is why it is worth mentioning anything large when you book rather than on the doorstep.
Do you deliver flat-pack furniture and build it?
We deliver it, and we can rebuild furniture we have dismantled. Assembling new flat-pack from the box is a different job — ask and we will tell you whether we can fit it in.
Is one item worth booking a whole van for?
For anything large, fragile or valuable, usually yes. A single sofa or wardrobe in a dedicated van costs less than most people expect, and it arrives in the condition it left.
