Courier and freight in Birmingham

The city centre inside the A4540 Middleway ring road is a Clean Air Zone. Where a route crosses it and a charge applies, it is named with the price.

Trade and industrial work sits all around the ring: Digbeth and the Jewellery Quarter close in, and larger estates at Tyseley, Aston and Castle Bromwich further out. Many of those sites run to booking slots, so send the reference and the window with the job.

The M6 through the north-east of the city, around Spaghetti Junction, is the slowest part of most runs in and out. Where the time of day allows, urgent collections are planned around it rather than through it.

Moving house in Birmingham

Inner suburbs such as Moseley, Kings Heath, Bearwood and Handsworth are mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces with on-street parking, where getting the van outside the door is the thing to plan. Sutton Coldfield, Harborne and Hall Green are mostly semis and detached houses with driveways.

City-centre apartments around Brindleyplace, the Jewellery Quarter and Digbeth usually need the move booked with the building and the lift reserved. Ask the managing agent early: some allow moves only on weekdays.

A move between Birmingham and London or the Home Counties is planned as one long day, with the same crew from the first box to the last.
