Scheduled and contract airport work

Most airport work is regular: import consignments collected from a handling agent and delivered to a warehouse, export freight taken in for a flight cut-off, or the same run between an airport and a site on set days. That kind of work suits a dedicated van and a driver who knows the terminal, and it is what we set up first with a new customer.

A standing arrangement means the collection time, the paperwork and the route are agreed once. After that you book it by date rather than explaining it every time, and where the schedule allows it is the same driver each time.

Luton, Stansted, Heathrow, East Midlands and Birmingham

Five cargo airports, each with its own layout, handling agents and way of releasing freight. Luton and Stansted are closest to us. Heathrow carries the most cargo in the country. East Midlands is the main overnight express hub. Birmingham serves the Midlands and the north-west.

We also run transfers between them, which is what is needed when something has landed at the wrong airport, a connection has been missed, or a consignment has to reach a different flight.

To be confirmed

Our drivers hold [airport access or ID arrangements] for collections from cargo terminals.

Urgent and aircraft parts enquiries

When a part is needed to get an aircraft back into service, or a consignment has to make a flight tonight, call us. Collections can be booked at any hour, including overnight and early morning, and we will tell you straight away what we can do and when.

For operators and maintenance organisations who expect this kind of call regularly, it is worth talking to us before it happens, so the addresses, contacts and paperwork are already set up when the call comes.

What we need to collect cargo

For an import collection: the air waybill number, the handling agent and the terminal, and confirmation that the consignment has been cleared and released for collection. Freight that is still held by customs or the handling agent cannot be collected, however quickly we get there, so check its release status before booking.

For an export delivery: the handling agent, the booking reference and the cut-off time. We work back from the cut-off, not from when the goods are ready.

How airport work is priced

One-off jobs are priced by distance, vehicle size and time of day. Scheduled runs are priced as a standing job, which is usually lower per run than booking each one separately.

To be confirmed

Airport runs from Luton start from £[amount] to Stansted and £[amount] to Heathrow.

Any waiting time at the terminal is agreed before the job, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay.

Common questions

Can you collect from a cargo terminal?

Yes. Tell us the airport, the handling agent and the air waybill number. The consignment must be cleared and released for collection before a driver can pick it up, so confirm that with the agent first.

Can you move something between two airports?

Yes. Transfers between Luton, Stansted, Heathrow, East Midlands and Birmingham are a regular part of airport work, usually when a consignment has to make a different flight.

Do you handle aircraft parts?

Yes, call us with the details. We will tell you straight away what we can do and when. Operators who expect to need this regularly should set it up with us in advance.

Can I book a collection in the middle of the night?

Yes. Collections can be booked at any hour, including overnight and early morning, which matters for airport work because the cargo does not keep office hours.

Can you set up a regular run?

Yes, and it is the best way to do airport work. A fixed run on set days is priced as a standing job, and the collection details only need agreeing once.
